It's official ! The practice is moving to 72 Center St. in Northampton ! It's my hope to keep growing while continuing to offer the same high quality services at my most affordable price, and to do so within a small community of friends and massage therapists, which is what I believe I have found. I do not yet have a definite move-in date, but it is safe to assume that by mid September I will have made the move (I will let you know in my 24hr confirmation texts). The new location is a short 4 miles up the road from my current location on the corner of State and Center St. right next to State St. Fruit Store (across from Hungry Ghost). I hope you will be making the short journey up the road with me! Hi! I'm David Richardson LMT (licensed massage therapist). Scroll past this if you just want to get to my booking link, it's right below this text block. Or keep reading to learn more about me! I'm glad you're considering getting a massage or energywork! I've been helping people feel better for over 12 years, now. I graduated from The Massage School, a well known staple of the community for offering great value to its students and clients alike. I have tried to pay that generous vision forward by maintaining excellent standards for care and by keeping my prices as low as possible. Before beginning massage school I held quite a few different jobs. I was a retail hardware store worker where I learned a lot about tools and how people use their bodies while using them. I worked on a horse farm packing stalls, where I learned what real hard work feels like, and spent my lunches observing the horses movements and their musculature. I learned many ends of the trades working alongside craftsman doing house painting, flooring, sheetrock/taping, and slate roofing among others, where I continued to learn what hard work looks and feels like as well as the toll that many of these trades take on the body and where those areas are. I worked for the USPS as a rural carrier where some of my duties included driving mail around between offices at odd hours and in all conditions. I worked in several office environments where I learned the plight of the office worker. I worked in a group-home for people with developmental disabilities where I learned SO much, but in particular I learned a to see things differently and a ton of compassion not only for others but for myself. I graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, where I continued to hone my communication skills and to look at a bigger picture and consider the entire scene in front of me. While I was doing all of these jobs I was also busy being a musician, where I learned a lot about body mechanics from playing multiple instruments (drums, guitar, bass, percussion and voice) and where I learned the value of "practice makes perfect". When I discovered massage I found all of the things I had ever learned finally had a place to coexist. I find myself reaching for information from all of those jobs, and from the people I knew, worked with, or talked with in those times. I may have an electrician or a plumber on my massage table and I find myself reaching for all the time I spent with guys doing that work on job sites and at the hardware store. Or I may have an office worker on my table, who is having low back pain or shoulder pain, and I'm reaching for my experience there and remembering what it was like and how I used my body when I did that. I feel uniquely well-suited to help just about anyone, because chances are I have had a job like the one most people find themselves with, at least from a physical viewpoint. I think this gives me a great grounds for understanding people's pain and discomfort and working to alleviate it. I love what I do. Don't get me wrong, there are those days! But I get to help people. When they leave my office they are happy and feel better than when they arrived. As you've seen, I've had many jobs. None of them ever felt like that. I'm grateful I get to experience that, and it is thanks to my clients that I do. I hope you'll come in and see if I can help you feel better! It's a win-win.
Go on, be a good friend and share MassageBook with them. They'll love you for it.
